People always ask me what gear I use or what I bring to my shoots, so I figured I’d do a “whats in my bag.” Whether I’m waking up at 5 am for a sunrise surf shesh or at sunset shooting for a brand, I try to keep it simple and travel light, because let’s be real… no one wants to carry a heavy backpack in Hawaii heat.
Here’s the 3 main things I have in my bag at all times:

My Camera:
Sony RX10 – It’s reliable, light, and does what I need it to. Whether I’m shooting surfers or a quiet portrait, this camera delivers. It sits between a DSLR and a point-and-shoot. This camera doesn’t have a detachable lens, but because it has a built-in 600mm lens, I can shoot wide beach scenes and tight surf shots without switching lenses.
Extra Batteries and SD Cards:
Sometimes shoots can go for hours, especially when I make a whole day out of it. I always make sure to keep 2 extra charged batteries in my bag, along with the car charger just in case. I also use 2 SD cards, both 120 gb. Usually I only use one but it never is a bad idea to have an extra one on hand.

Umbrella:
Everyone who lives here knows how randomly it rains, so you can imagine how inconvenient it is when it starts showering in random increments. I found a small retractable umbrella that compacts down perfectly into my bag. I never leave without it and it has saved the day multiple times.
